A unique testimony in France between Romanesque and Hispano-Moorish art, classified in 1998 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a major site on the Routes of Santiago de Compostela.

Built in the 12th century, it was intended to welcome travelers on a route that at the time connected Béarn to Navarre.

Today, only the name and the late 12th-century Romanesque church remain of the Hospital. Despite its modest size and the impression of simplicity one gets upon first seeing it, it is a highly accomplished work, the result of several decades of experience and expertise. It is a church in the purest Romanesque tradition.
Its small openings are a reminder of the constraints faced by architects of that era: building very thick walls to create vaulted interior spaces. But it also possesses unique features that make it a singular example in France of Romanesque art with Hispano-Moorish influences.
